Seattle Jail Mugshots

Seattle jail mugshots come from arrests made by the Seattle Police Department and other agencies working in King County's largest city. Seattle does not run its own city jail for long-term custody, so arrestees are booked into the King County Jail in downtown Seattle or the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. You can search for a Seattle inmate booking photo, arrest report, or jail roster entry through the county inmate lookup, the SPD records request center, and the Seattle Municipal Court portal. This page explains how to find these records and what to expect.

Seattle Police Department

The Seattle Police Department is the largest municipal police agency in Washington State. SPD handles arrests, investigations, and patrol across the city. When officers make an arrest, the person is taken to the King County Correctional Facility (KCCF) in downtown Seattle for booking. SPD does not keep its own long-term jail. KCCF staff take the booking photo, fingerprints, and intake data.

The Seattle Police blotter is the department's official media page. It shows summaries of recent arrests, search warrants, and other notable incidents. The blotter is not a full arrest log. It only covers incidents that SPD public affairs staff choose to highlight. It is a good starting point to see what arrests have hit the news.

To get a full police report or arrest file, you file a public records request. The SPD Public Disclosure Requests page is the official starting point. Seattle also runs a Records Request Center where you can submit a request, talk to disclosure staff, and download your records online. The city publishes a data dashboard tracking response times.

King County Jail Inmate Lookup

The King County Jail inmate lookup is the main tool for finding a Seattle jail mugshot.

Seattle jail mugshots Seattle Police Department

The Seattle Police Department is the main arresting agency behind most Seattle bookings into the King County system.

You can search the King County roster by name. Results show the current booking photo, charges, bail or bond amount, and release info. The roster updates several times a day. Seattle arrestees are usually held at the King County Correctional Facility at 500 Fifth Ave in downtown Seattle. Some are moved to the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. The online lookup is free and open to everyone.

For older mugshots that no longer show on the live roster, file a public records request with the King County Sheriff. The KCSO disclosure team releases records under the Washington Public Records Act at RCW 42.56. Fees and timelines depend on the size of the request.

Seattle Municipal Court Records

The Seattle Municipal Court handles misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor cases for crimes in the city. This includes DUI, simple assault, theft, and many traffic crimes. The court is at 600 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104. Case records are public and can be searched online or in person.

The court offers an online defendant search through the ECF portal. Use the Defendant Search section on the left-side menu. You can search by last name, first name, date of birth, or defendant number. Results show the case status, hearing dates, and charge info. The tool is open 24/7 and does not require a login for basic lookup.

Felony cases move to the King County Superior Court in Seattle. Felony case lookup goes through the county clerk or the state public case search. Note: Most Seattle arrest records are tied to a case file in one of these two courts, so matching a booking to a case is usually straightforward.

Request a Seattle Arrest Report

To request a full Seattle arrest report, police file, body-worn camera video, or booking photo, the best path is the Seattle Police Department's Public Records Request portal. The system lets you submit a request, track its status, and pay for and download records. You will need to create an account. Response times vary based on the size and type of the request.

What you usually receive in a Seattle arrest file:

  • Arrest report with officer narrative
  • Booking photo (if not sealed)
  • 911 call audio (case by case)
  • Body-worn camera video (case by case)
  • Charging documents
  • Court case number

Fees may apply for extensive requests, though the first several pages are usually free. Body-worn camera requests must meet the rules in RCW 42.56.240(14), which protects privacy interests for certain video.

What a Booking Record Holds

A Seattle booking record at the King County Jail holds the basic info that the state requires every jail to make public. The jail register is open under RCW 70.48.100. This is the law that makes daily jail logs a public record across the state. You can use these fields to confirm a person is in custody and see what they are charged with.

Standard booking record fields include the full name and birth date, the booking photo, the arrest date and arresting agency, the charge list and case number, the bail or bond amount, the court date, and the release status. For Seattle, the arresting agency is almost always SPD. Sometimes the arresting agency is the Washington State Patrol, a federal agency, or another county law enforcement team working in the city.

Criminal history data has added protections under RCW Chapter 10.97, the state criminal records privacy act. Nonconviction data is held back from some requesters. Conviction data is widely available. Basic current booking records remain open to the public in nearly all cases.

Statewide Case Search

The Washington Courts public case search covers cases in district, municipal, and superior courts across the state. You can look up a Seattle case alongside cases in other counties all in one place. Results show the court name, case number, type, status, and hearing dates. It is useful when you are not sure which court has a case.

For state prison inmates, use the Washington Department of Corrections inmate search. DOC handles all long-term custody after sentencing to state prison time. Once a person moves out of the King County Jail and into DOC custody, the county roster stops showing them.

Victim Tools and Privacy

Victims of a Seattle crime can sign up for VINELink, the free victim notification service. VINE sends alerts when an inmate is moved, released, or transferred. It is the fastest way for victims and family members to stay up to date on custody changes at the King County Jail.

For a statewide paid conviction check, the WATCH system from the Washington State Patrol is the main tool. It returns conviction data from courts and jails across the state. Use and release of criminal history data is set by RCW 10.97.040.

Note: The Seattle Police disclosure team and the King County Sheriff both publish fee schedules and response data online for public review.
